Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I visit the dental office?

Frequency of care varies by individual, but consistency is key. We generally recommend that patients come in for hygiene and an exam every 9 months at a minimum, however many patients strongly benefit from a more frequent hygiene interval (3, 4, or 6 months). It's important to schedule an appointment right away if you start experiencing pain/aching, swelling, or experience a trauma to your teeth or jaw.

Do you accept dental insurance and direct billing?

We strive to make dental care accessible and stress-free. We will assist you with understanding your insurance coverage before treatment so you can best make informed decisions.

Do you accept CDCP (Canadian Dental Care Plan)?

Yes! We are proud to accept CDCP. It's a great program to make dental care more affordable and accessible.

Do I qualify for CDCP?

What do I do if I have a dental emergency?

Dental emergencies can happen when you least expect them. Whether it is a severe toothache, a chipped tooth, or a lost filling, it is important to contact us immediately. We prioritize emergency cases to get you out of pain and treat the issue as quickly as possible. What if it's a holiday or the middle of the night and you can't get in immediately? Here are some tips: If you've lost a filling, keep the area as clean as possible. If you are experiencing pain, taking advil or tylenol may help with the discomfort until we can see you (unless contraindictacted by your other medications). If you've never been to Clarington Family Dentistry before, we are still happy to help you fix the problem. We will require you to fill out a medical history form prior to your appointment and if you wish to continue receiving regular care at our office, the next step would be to bring you in for a complete exam so we can comprehensively assess your oral health and add you into our system.
